First thing anyone visiting should know about Orange County?
There's more to Orange County than just Disneyland and outdoor malls. From mountain trails to gorgeous seasides to craft coffee shops and artisan markets, Orange County is a great place to explore on the weekend or on your day off.
Describe Orange County in three words?
Summery, diverse, relaxing.
Favorite place to eat, drink, and indulge?
My coffee shop obsessions are Portola Coffee Lab, Keane Coffee, and Cafe Vitaly. I'm currently obsessed with the chicken Thai noodle soup at Noodle Tramp, located at the Fourth Street Market in Santa Ana. To satisfy your sweet tooth, I recommend the cupcakes at Susie Cakes.
You have 24 hours to lounge around and do anything, how would you spend your time?
Forget sleeping in -- I would start the day by catching sunrise in the mountains on a morning hike in Santiago Regional Park. On the way home, I would stop by Keane Coffee for a Turkish Latte and a pastry. Around late morning, I would pack my picnic basket ($3 at Goodwill!), my water color art supplies, a swim suit, and a book, and I would head to Newport Beach for a mini-retreat by the sea for as long as my heart desired. After a while, I would pack up my belongings and drive down the neighborhood to Main Street on Balboa Island for a frozen chocolate covered banana, which I would enjoy by the harbor. Next I would meet up with a friend, order a bowl of Ahi Poke and two Fish Burritos to go from Bear Flag Fish Co, and we would drive down the Pacific Coast Highway (PCH) from Newport Beach to Laguna Beach in time for sunset. My go-to place in Laguna Beach is Victoria Beach, where you can find a castle like tower and pool by a cliff side. We'd take photos, finish our burritos, and stay until the sun disappeared below the horizon.
Just for kicks, London or Tokyo?
Anything else you'd like to share?
What I love about being based in Orange County is the fact that I'm relatively close to other amazing cities and destinations -- Los Angeles, San Diego, Palm Springs, and Joshua Tree National Park. There are seemingly endless places to discover and explore in Southern California - its landscapes are diverse, beautiful, and full of adventure.
