Emerge Yourself in Italian Culture

Written by: Nina Grace

Italy is a country known for its rich history and culture - from the religious architecture to its Italian staple cuisine – it is a destination most aspire to experience. With art and architecture created by the likes of Raphael, Leonardo da Venci, Donatello, and Michelangelo Italy offers a wide range in historical and artistic treasures.

The European peninsula extends into the Mediterranean Sea hosting 70+ islands including Sicily, Cyprus, and Sardinia. The Dolomite mountain range extending across northern Italy intermingles with the ever popular and Italian border mountain range, The Alps. The country finds itself as a land of many contrasts, with its freezing mountainous northern region to its volcanic southern coasts.

Living a bella vita (beautiful life) is the root of Italian pathology especially in regards to social standards and food. Savoring flavorful tastes of the Italian cuisine is a part of daily life. Eat locally and in season is the key. Supporting small farms and businesses has always been the way for an Italian cook. The Slow Food Movement began in Italy as a way to preserve the age-old traditions of providing good, clean, and fair food to a market that is being influenced to do otherwise.
