Sometimes a ‘staycation’ is all you need to get away from the stresses of your everyday life. As a local to St.Pete, I’ve enjoyed cocktails on rooftop lounge, The Canopy, several times now, so much so that I’d forgotten this place is actually a boutique hotel. Passing this hotel almost daily, I really wanted to see how it measured up to my expectations…

The newly reconstructed hotel is located in the heart of downtown St. Petersburg on the ever-popular Beach Drive. What I particularly love is that the building’s history dates back to the early 1920s (having been an apartment building). The décor is beautiful and I especially love the soaker claw foot tub in the room. I would describe it as a modern medieval feel given the ornate details and bold colors throughout. It’s centrally located to all things that make St. Pete so loveable: The Dali Museum, Saturday Morning Market, Central Avenue, and best of all the rooftop lounge overlooks the Bay. I would strongly suggest anyone visiting St. Pete to book a room at The Birchwood, you won’t be disappointed.
